A router is basically a device used to share your internet connection and connect users together. It takes the signal from and tells it where to go and to which computer to go. If you are using a single computer and do not need any wireless feature then you probably do not need a router. If you have more than 1 computer, the MOFI3500-3GN is something you should look at.
2) What is the difference between the standards such as B, G, N lite, N Draft 2.0?
These are various protocols used to transmit data. The latest is N 300MB/s which is implemented in the MOFI3500-3GN. The protocols are all backwards compatible so if you get a router such as the MOFI3500-3GN, you will be able to connect to other devices or other devices will be able to connect to the MoFi with all the previous protocol.
3) What is the standard for the MOFI3500-3GN router?
The MOFI3500-3GN is today's fastest product at up to 300MB/s transfer rates. It is a full wireless N.
4) What is 3G?
3G is a standard that is used by mobile carriers to deliver high speed transfer rates. This has allowed mobile devices to have speeds that even outperform the speeds in a typical house hold. Companies such as Rogers, Bell and Telus in Canada have already implemented 21MB/s transfer rates in their mobile internet sticks. The MOFI3500-3GN is able to use these sticks thus allow the end users to share this speed virtually anywhere there is a 3G service for your provider.
5) What is the difference between a cheaper N router and the MOFI3500-3GN?
The MOFI3500-3GN is both a regular router and a 3G router. If you want to use it as a typical home router for your DSL or Cable connection, it is not a problem. You will get the incredible speeds that you may even see when you browse the internet. MOFI Network has focused on performance in this product. What make this router excel is it is compatible with virtually all the internet sticks around the world. For Canada, the sticks are already compatible with Rogers, Bell and Telus 21 MB/s solutions and are also confirmed working with all the various sticks across Canada. The router is also compatible with the majority of the USA providers. Please take a look at a list to make sure the model of the internet stick is listed in there.
6) Do I have to have a service before I can use the 3G network?
Yes, you need to have a service similar to a cell phone if you want to have access to a 3G service. Contact your local cellular provider to find a plan that suites you. The provider will include the USB internet stick and this is the stick you will put in the back of the router to allow you to share the service with others.
7) Will my EVDO stick work with the MOFI?
Depends on if the stick is currently compatible with the router. MoFi Network is proud to be the leader in compatibility and if you have a stick that is not compatible with the router, we will take the steps to update the firmware to make it work. So far, all the sticks are covered in Canada and the Mofi Network is currently working to get most of the sticks working in the USA with the MOFI3500-3GN
